The 139-room Montage Big Sky, a modern alpine retreat, has opened in Southwest Montana. Less than an hour from Yellowstone National Park and surrounded by wilderness, the hotel offers an array of experiences for every season, such as ski-in, ski-out access to Big Sky Resort's 5,850 skiable acres, three fly-fishing rivers, a golf course designed by Tom Weiskopf, the 10,000-square-foot Spa Montage, mountain-inspired dining and more.

“We are extremely proud to debut Montage Big Sky, which brings a first-of-its-kind resort experience to the Rocky Mountains of Montana, with striking design, extraordinary culinary offerings and incredible access to year-round adventure,” said Alan J. Fuerstman, founder, chair and CEO of Montage International. “Combined with the personalized and gracious service that has become a hallmark of Montage Hotels & Resorts, we look forward to welcoming guests and the local community to enjoy the magic of the American West and relax in one of the most inspiring destinations in the world.”

The guest room designs showcase rustic hues and a neutral palette with bits of color in the small details. Among the accommodations are 39 Montage Residences, ranging from two to six bedrooms, decorated with regional materials such as hand-stacked stone, with state-of-the art kitchens and grand fireplaces.

More than 12,000 square feet of flexible event space is available for up to 400 guests, including a 5,080-square-foot ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows. Among the outdoor options are two terraces and two event lawns.

The resort’s signature restaurant, Cortina, serves rustic Northern Italian fare to be paired with an extensive selection of wines. Alpenglow, named for the mountains' pink-hued sunsets, offers a menu of savory bites, local brews and handcrafted cocktails in a comfortable setting of warm wood, glowing fireplaces and floor-to-ceiling windows. The Living Room is the social hub of the lobby looking out to the Spanish Peaks. There, guests can enjoy a Montana-inspired bourbon high-tea service and play classic tabletop games. The Beartooth Pub & Rec is the casual spot, dishing up pub fare, wood-fired pizzas, decadent desserts and local craft beers, and featuring bowling, darts and vintage arcade games.

Grab-and-go meals are available at the Wildflower Market, which also sells local artisan goods, specialty coffee and tea, house-made ice cream and more. Guests can arrange for custom picnic baskets to take on their outdoor adventures or custom meal kits for those staying in the residences. Coming in summer 2022 is the open-air Backcast Bar & Grille for classic barbecue and smokehouse cooking. Next winter, it will whip up hearty meals and craft cocktails.

The 10,000-square-foot Spa Montage Big Sky has 12 treatment rooms and a full-service salon, as well as an indoor lap pool, heated plunge pools and steam rooms. Spa goers can also access a state-of-the-art fitness center surrounded by mountain views, with a studio and a yoga lawn for classes.

Aside from downhill skiing, guests can head outside for snow-shoeing, Nordic skiing, dog-sledding and ice skating in winter, and guided tours of Yellowstone National Park, mountain biking and hiking in the warmer months.
