In the Greater Zion area of southern Utah, construction has begun on the hotel at the Black Desert Resort. Already available for play are nine holes of the Black Desert Resort Golf Course, designed by Tom Weiskopf, the celebrated architect who won 16 PGA Tour titles as a professional golfer.

The luxury resort will feature a hotel and 1,000 condos, for a total of 1,480 keys; 25,000 square feet of event space, a 15,000-square-foot spa, and 80,000 square feet of retail, restaurants and commercial space. Upon completion, the property is expected to be the largest hospitality offering in the state. Phase one, which includes the hotel, is scheduled to open in the fall of 2024.

When completed, Weiskopf's 7,200-yard layout will be a classic resort course, attracting players of all abilities, with fair greens, forgiving fairways, and 70- to 100-yard landing areas for beginners, while offering plenty of risk and reward for the experts.

Adventure activities in Greater Zion are plentiful, including canyoneering in spots such as Yankee Doodle and Snow canyons, and boating and fishing in Sand Hollow State Park. Trails for all hiking abilities are just an hour away from the Black Desert Resort in Zion National Park.
